Even though this was a great breakthrough for the medical communities, the drug had caused higher levels of white blood cells which then interfered with the proper immunological functions.

Now it was not until mid 1990’s that they had released a new drug. This drug had proven in the clinical studies to posses the same reduced side effects, and not causing the patient the problems of having the raised white blood cell counts. This is what we now know as Zyprexa, the atypical antipsychotic drug and in 1996 had been approved by our FDA. Even though this drug has the limited number of the side effects, it has shown an unexpected rise in diabetes. The type of diabetes had been proven to be very fatal in many patients.
